The center column is a satin-finished carbon-fiber tube, with a large winged column lock, for a fast and smooth height adjustment range of 18″. Perfect for sharing the view between people of different heights, as well as getting a binocular high overhead for astronomical viewing while standing. Meant for use with the Oberwerk 5000 head (or any Manfrotto head), and a maximum load of 16 lbs. Not for use with the Oberwerk 25/40×100, BT-120XL-SD, or BT-127XL-SD.

I bought one of these after buying the Oberwerk wood tripod. it works perfectly for adjusting between my preferred height and then down a bit for my wife. It clamps very securely but when you have your binoscope mounted and are adjusting the height, you need to be very careful that you do not loosen it too much and allow the bins to drop. Still, a very convenient option when more than one person is viewing and easy to use in the dark. Definitely recommended – well worth the money.
