The Oberwerk XL Fork Mount was designed to be an extra-sturdy and smooth mount for our XL Series Binocular Telescopes. Available in two sizes- 240mm width for the BT-100XL-ED (and smaller) and 280mm width for the BT-120XL-SD and BT-127XL-SD. Constructed from black-anodized aluminum with red-anodized trim, which matches the red trim on the XL Series binoculars and eyepieces. The binocular attaches with a single captive 3/8″ hand-screw, while two spring-loaded pins keep the binocular from twisting on the mount. Adjustable rubber bumpers are included that prevents your binocular from contacting the mount when pointed to zenith or below the horizon. The larger XL-280 model has 3-position side plates, that allow height adjustment of the binocular, in order to obtain optimum balance (Oberwerk BT-120 and BT-127 models use the middle position). The XL Fork Mount includes a quick-release bayonet adapter, for easy tool-free attachment/detachment from the tripod. The bayonet adapter will attach to any tripod with a 3/8″ stud. It can also be directly attached to Oberwerk TR3 Hardwood Tripods that are pre-configured with a built-in bayonet adapter (check the box by “Add to Cart” to delete the Bayonet Adapter and save $40).

This mount earned a 5 star ranking because it’s not only an excellent mount for large binoculars but by adapting a Losmandy saddle it can be used to mount small telescopes. It makes a nice grab and go outfit for both binoculars and telescopes. I’ve mounted a C-8, C-9.25 and small refractor s up to 5 inches. The quick release plate fits very well in the vixen part of the Losmandy saddle. Lloyd Watkins

I’m using the BT-100XL-SD binocs mounted on this XL Fork Mount. I had difficulties using even high-end Manfrotto heads and the fork mount is simply fantastic. I can get set up in minutes in complete darkness and scan the heavens without impediment.
