Giant 80mm objectives have a serious amount of light grasp, yet they weigh just 4 pounds! Fabulous for astronomy when used with a tripod. Also excellent for wildlife observation and surveillance, and the 80mm objectives really help when light levels are low. Lightweight enough to be hand-held for daylight viewing, but most will find 20x magnification difficult to hold steady- so a built-in mount is included. Adjustable fore and aft, you’ll be able to obtain perfect balance on your tripod head.

Low-reflection broadband multi-coating is used on every air-to-glass surface, including prisms. Light loss due to reflection and scattering is minimized, providing the highest level of light transmission possible. 14.5mm of usable eye relief means you’ll see the entire field of view even when wearing eyeglasses.

Like all LW’s, it has a rugged rubber-armored aluminum body, all-glass lenses, BAK4 prisms, right ocular diopter adjustment, fold-down eyecups, caps, and neck strap. Also includes a lightweight hard case.

I just wanted to drop a note and tell you how happy my wife and I are with the quality – both optically and mechanically – of this great product. My reason for the purchase was for astro-viewing as a supplement to our telescopes (we’ve been using other brand binos for a long time), but since using them, we’ve found that they are our “first grab” for birding as well. The evening that they arrived, I stepped out on our back porch just as it got dark and took in a wonderful view of Jupiter and the 4 big moons. I called my wife our for a look and she was completely blown away! Neither of us expected such great performance for an relatively inexpensive pair of binos, especially at 20X. Color correction is excellent right out to the edge of the field, something I never expected form a relatively low cost pair of binoculars. We spent a great deal of time outside that night taking in the sights (we also had a telescope set up, though it didn’t get much use that evening). I was especially impressed at how well the binos were able to pull in the light from M31 in our light polluted sky. One of our favorite viewing targets, M45, is especially impressive through this wonderful instrument.

Very happy with purchase, I have not used the binoculars much for astronomical use due to the weather I did sneak a quick look at Pleiades the view was fantastic. I would purchase a tripod for these as they get heavy handholding after awhile . I called Oberwerk with questions after the purchase all my questions were answered to my satisfaction very nice people to deal with.Looking forward to doing more business with Oberwerk.

The Oberwerk 20×80’s are just what I hoped they would be. They came well collimated and perform very well. Near perfect star images. Kevin was so helpful in answering all my questions. I highly recommend him and his product!!

After viewing the cosmos with 7×35 binoculars, I was quite impressed with the power of this model for the price. Where before I was looking AT star clusters like M39, the 20×80 made me feel like I was looking THROUGH the cluster! Great tool for my hobby-level of astronomy.

I am very happy with the binocular I received. It feels and acts like a great quality high precision instrument. It was safely packed, delivered on time. The support team was very responsive. Thanks Oberwerk, will definitely buy more from you in the future.

I had these for a few days. Viewed comet NEOWISE as the first night sky object. These are really nice and can’t wait to get them out to some dark sky. For the money they can’t be beat. The case is nice to protect them. They sat nicely on my camera tripod for the quick view of the comet and then Jupiter and Saturn. These will get a lot of use in the coming months. If you are on the fence about these get off and order your own. Enjoy

It’s not just the stellar (pun intended) quality of the glass, and thus the views, but the light weight that make these so invaluable to me. I’ve had my 20×80 LW for a decade, and they’re still going strong; only needed a recollimation once in all that time. Easily the best viewing of any of my binos (smaller Nikon and 15×70 Celestron), and I’ll replace each of those with Oberwerk eventually.

Moving from handheld 3 pound 15×70’s to handheld 4 pound 20×80’s was a breeze. Easy to lock-in the gems of the night sky with a significant gain in observing distant objects with the magnification increase and optical quality improvements. Great purchase.

These are great. Finally being able to use them as we have had nearly constant cloud cover the past few weeks.

    Quite stable on the tripod.

Images clear and bright and the light gathering at night allows seeing great detail among the stars.

Easy to transport out to the lake to observe the migrating bird.

BTW, this is a great company. The first pair got shook up in shipping and had some debris in the left barrel and were misaligned. I called and spoke with Kevin and he sent out a new pair that day.

Also, the initial shipping charge when ordering was more than the actual, so the difference was refunded.

So impressed that I bought the Mariners for a grab and go pair.

The ordering was easy and Kevin gave me good customer service before and after. The 20×80 LW’s are great. Sharp and bright collimated image. I am able to see Jupiter and two moons mist severe light pollution. In Clea skies I see four! I feel I got a “lot” of binocular for the price! Thanks Kevin.

A decade ago I bought my first pair of Oberwerk 20×80 LW. Great glass and sooo lightweight. Exponentially better than any of my other large format binos, even though they had a mere 12mm eye relief. I recently upgraded to the newer model, and its new 18mm eye relief is amazing! The glass is still the best, too!

I bought these binoculars so my wife and I could look at the stars and the Moon. I found that they brought the moon in so close it looks like you could literally touch it. You can see the moon as it really is, not just a round Moon up close. Airplanes can be seen from so far away it’s amazing. Stars other things they work very well at night, no disappointments, the quality of Oberwerk binoculars are awesome. I will be a customer always. Do not think twice about paying for a pair of binoculars that they have, you’ll never be disappointed. Thank you Oberwerk for grand binoculars.

Absolutely an easy 5 stars. These binoculars are amazing. I have had them for about 10 years and use them primarily for astronomy. They are perfect for learning the night sky and locating faint little deep sky targets for detailed observation later in larger instruments. They really deliver very crisp and clear views and pull in much more light than expected. I was so impressed with these that I also bought the Oberwerk 8×42 sport series for more portable hand-held use; and am now considering the 10x50s. I have four telescopes ranging from 80mm to 10 inches; but I use these 20×80 Lightweights on a surveyors tripod more than all of my telescopes combined. The telescopes come out for photography or detailed observation; but these come out every night I am viewing. Thank you Oberwerk for offering such a high quality product at a reasonable price.

Purchased as a Christmas gift for my son-in-law. The package arrived quickly. I checked the binocular and found that it is better than the 20×80 binocular I have that cost over $100.00 more.
    Thank you Oberwerk…

I recently purchased the 20 x 80 LW binoculars off of the clearance section (due to some very minor blemishes on the outer coating). I saved a few dollars and use these for my very amateur attempts at stargazing. These binos are AMAZING! The quality in their construction is obvious, even to a beginner like me. The hard shell nylon case does a good job at protecting them. I’ve only used them from my backyard with all the light pollution and have still been amazed at the detail I am able to see with them. The moon looks like I can reach out and touch it and it’s craters are visible to an extent I was unaware I would be able to see. Jupiter with 4 of it’s moons is absolutely fascinating to me and are easily seen with these binoculars. I absolutely can not wait to head out to some darker areas to expand my ability to explore the night sky!
I am using a tripod designed for a camera, as these binoculars are “heavy” when it comes to holding them still enough for clear images. I purchased the L adapter from Oberwerk to attach the binos to the tripod, and it works good. The Oberwerk 4000 tripod is on my wish list as I think it will allow for smoother movement of the binos during use, but my current setup is acceptable for now.
I also wanted to be able to take photos of the incredible images I was seeing to share with friends. Digiscoping is a thing! I purchased the least expensive cell phone attachment device from the Oberwerk website and am pleased with it’s performance. My phone is probably more responsible for the less than ideal images (Galaxy Note 9) and I am considering an upgrade to a phone that will do justice to the images that the binoculars are allowing me to view.
Overall, I am VERY pleased with everything Oberwerk has done from the website, to the ordering process, order completion, and of course, the products they sell. 10/ 10 and I WILL be buying more from them as my new hobby develops.
