The Oberwerk Mini-Pier was designed for the TR3 tripod, as well as the Manfrotto 475B and 161MK2B tripods, to provide clearance for the iOptron HAZ31 Go-To Mount. The HAZ31 does a 360-degree spin when doing its auto-setup routine, and without the extra height provided by the Mini-Pier, the binocular can crash into the top of the tripod. Machined from solid aluminum, with stainless steel hardware, the pier will not add any instability to the tripod, no matter the load. The pier’s height is 4.75″, and the top and bottom disks are 4″ in diameter.
UPDATE: We now have two versions of the top plate to choose from. The original version is simply a plate with a fixed 3/8″ stud and a set-screw to prevent whatever is sitting on top of it from accidently unscrewing. The new top plate is intended for use with the iOptron HAZ31 and HAZ46. Rather than spinning the mount on and off (which can be awkward), the updated plate has three studs that precisely-match three holes in the bottom of the iOptron mount. There is a non-threaded hole in the center of the top plate and a 3/8″ thumbscrew is included. Simply set the mount on the pier with the three holes lined up with the three studs, then use the 3/8″ thumbscrew from underneath to secure the mount to the pier. It’s much easier and faster to attach/detach an iOptron mount this way.

I rate 5 stars for this accessory! I have 3 now, and they work wonderfully to add a bit of height on my TR3 tripods! Superb quality and craftsmanship, as is always the case with Oberwerk! 🙂

I have the TR3 tripod in walnut~it is gorgeous~along with the mini pier with the plate that has 3 studs and 3/8” thumbscrew. I also ordered the iOptron HAZ46 through Oberwerk. I absolutely love the top plate with 3 studs, it is perfect for attaching my iOptron HAZ46 onto the mini pier. Before, I had the single fixed 3/8” stud, which worked but was a little harder for me as I had to twist my mount onto the mini pier. With the 3-stud plate, I just set my mount on the mini pier and tighten the thumb screw from underneath. No more twisting my mount to screw it onto the mini pier. I did take a silver sharpie and put tiny little marks on the base of the mount and the 3-stud plate to allow me to set my mount even faster. So thankful for that 3-stud plate, and so very thankful I chose Oberwerk. It is such a good feeling, after all that research on what mount and tripod to get, to know I made the right choice in going with Oberwerk . I am very happy with my equipment.
