The Manfrotto model 161MK2B is rated for 45 lbs. capacity, so when equipped with the Oberwerk XL 280 Fork Mount or Manfrotto 612 Nitrotech Head, it’s easily capable of handling the Oberwerk BT-127XL-SD. More height than you could ever use (maximum height is almost nine feet!). The primary advantage of using the Manfrotto tripod over the TR3 Hardwood Tripod is the crank-operated elevator, which makes height adjustment fast and easy. For easy mobility, add the Manfrotto 181B auto-dolly, which features wheels that raise and lower in unison with one touch of the foot pedal.

I purchased this tripod mated with the Nitrotech 612 head for the 127XL’s. I have the Oberwerk TR3 tripod with the Nitrotech 608 head for the 82XL’s (and a Questar 3.5) and really like that tripod. But for the 127XL’s the crank center column is really a necessity. And, happily, the center column works great! It’s really really nice to not have to swap seats or change seat height but just give the crank a bit of a turn while star-hopping etc. The leg clamps work great to get the setup level (a necessity). And it’s light enough to move easily! Highly recommended!
