The Oberwerk 70XL-ED delivers exceptional two-eyed viewing in a remarkably compact and lightweight design. Featuring 70mm FK-61 extra-low dispersion (ED) objectives, 24mm clear-aperture prisms, and a durable magnesium-alloy body, this binocular telescope combines precision optics with outstanding portability. The ED objectives minimize chromatic aberration and deliver bright, color-accurate images of lunar, planetary, and deep-sky targets — all from an instrument weighing just over 10 pounds.
Built to the same rigorous standards as the rest of the XL Series, the magnesium-alloy chassis is waterproof and nitrogen-filled for all-weather reliability. Extendable glare shields enhance contrast and protect the objectives, while the Picatinny rail handle allows attachment of red-dot finders, laser pointers, or other accessories. The ultra-wide 50–80mm IPD range ensures a perfect fit for nearly any observer, from children to seasoned astronomers.
Finished in Luna Pearl White with distinctive red-anodized trim, the 70XL-ED combines Oberwerk engineering excellence with elegant, refined styling.
Included are 8-element, 14mm (28×) 70° AFOV eyepieces, delivering wide, immersive views with crisp edge-to-edge clarity. Optional 22mm (18×) and 7mm (56×) eyepiece pairs offer flexibility for both sweeping Milky Way vistas and detailed lunar or planetary study. A heavy-duty aluminum-frame case is included for protection and portability.
Each 70XL-ED is individually tested, collimated, and tuned by hand, with optical alignment certified to 98× (step <12 arcseconds). Supported by a 5-year Limited Warranty, it represents Oberwerk’s tradition of precision, craftsmanship, and enduring performance.

I was amazed by the quality of this binocular telescope. The images are clear and it came tuned to perfection right out of the case. I was pleasantly surprised when I could see the rings on Saturn. The clarity is incredible and it totally surpassed my expectations. I have seen Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, the orange corn Moon, and watched a falling star all through this great binocular. I definitely recommend this binocular telescope. It is the best of the best!!!

Really amazing viewing, clear and focused. Customers service is equally superior.

Just spent last 2 weeks hunting from sunup to sundown in my BT 70 XL ED binocular and have nothing but positive things to say about them. Great definition, color distinction, sharp to the edge even in not the best light conditions with no eye fatigue. Compare well with much more expensive optics. Extremely satisfied!

Kudos to Oberwerk yet again! I would give 10 stars if I could. I recently received this BT and am thrilled with the quality of the fit, finish, mechanics, and views! Images are as sharp and contrasty as can be, and the color rendition is spectacular. Albireo never looked so good! I was also able to detect color in fainter stars which I had been unable to using one eye in my telescopes. Customer service was fantastic and the shipping was quick!

Got these babies for the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn….very impressed. For the first time I could see the rings of Saturn, a special moment between man and machine! I have 3 eyepieces up to 40X mag. Lookin out my bedroom window in the evening I can see what on the TV in the Acura dealership 2 miles away! Quality is outstanding, get a good tripod. They also look cool just sitting on my stairs landing as a piece of form following function art!

We bought the first pair of the 70mm 45-degree binoculars over eight years ago. They are the most fantastic grab and go set up we’ve ever owned. The views are superlative. Stars are pinpoint and clear. Doublets well separated. Great for dark sky viewing while camping. Was able to see the green comet with it. My wife and I would highly recommend this set of binoculars to anyone without reservations.

I’ve owned the BT-70XL-ED for about a year. I purchased it after being delighted with its larger brother, the BT-100XL-SD. I’ve found this 70mm to be a wonderful instrument in its own right for day and night observation.
It’s often used for birds and other wildlife from our deck, and for easy grab n’ go astronomy and/or travel. The optics are great – sharp and beautiful edge to edge using the Oberwerk 22mm and 14mm eyepieces. At the magnifications used, false color is negligible. The focusers are smooth as glass. Excellent quality and design.
I use a Manfrotto 608 Nitrotech head on a 3236 tripod (older version of 475B). This is a match made in heaven for this BT. On the BT’s rail, I have a phone mount (for use with the free Astrohopper app) and an inexpensive red dot, with quick detach Picatinny mounts. Works great.
It’s a real joy to own such a fine, compact and capable instrument. After a year, I can’t imagine not having this available both at home and while traveling. Oberwerk sales, shipping and technical support was off the charts.

Very sharp images with impressive clarity and a nice crisp flat field. Just like looking through a small high quality ed refractor. Using both eyes is such a relaxing experience. I’m never going back to mono. Cruising star fields was an absolute delight. The 2.5mm exit pupil was a perfect match for my light polluted skies. I did have a learning curve for a few days as my eyes needed time to get acclimated to the system. It’s now very relaxing and stress free to operate. I thought I would have issues with counter rotating individual focusers but I took to them right away. This is the most color free ed that I have ever looked through. At 28x magnification there were times that I thought I saw a trace of color on the limb of the moon. But it was more like a possible hint of color. The BT 70 has got some really good glass. Nice fit and finish. Collimation was perfect. Everything feels and looks like quality. I mounted it on the Oberwerk 4000 tripod which made it a lot of fun to use.
